Story of becoming a rural Business Women and President of running dairy corporation. Kajodi Devi is not your typical movie heroine but a real life wonder woman born straight into miseries but overcoming them, in process to help her village.
She is the President of Maitree Mahila Dairy, Duni, Rajasthan. Born in a middle-level farming household and belongs to the SC community. In spite of the background, her parents encouraged her for regular schooling. However, she had to discontinue her studies, due to the pressure by her in-laws. But she didn’t back down, she ensured her daughter’s education, who is now studying nursing.
When a CIG was formed in her village in 2005, she was selected as the chair and put in charge of all bank-related transactions. She started assuming a leadership role and was actively involved in the promotion of 12 new SHGs. After linking with the SHG program and becoming financially independent she started to participate actively in SRIJAN’s dairy program. She became its leader and eventually, the chairperson of the Maitree Mahila Mandal federation.
Kajodi Devi has received social recognition and economic independence and is very passionate to empower other women. She is a fiercely devoted member of the Federation, and is very positive about taking it to new heights. She has become a people’s elected QUEEN! This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at
