Sheila Hooda has over 30 years of leadership and governance experience providing strategic direction, driving growth and transforming Fortune 300 firms in the global financial services, professional and information services, education and consumer industries. She is currently the President of Alpha Advisory Partners, an advisory firm providing strategy, M&A and turnaround services for the financial and business services sectors.
Ms. Hooda recently served on the executive team at Thomson Reuters, and previously at TIAA-CREF, where she was a member of the Office of the CEO and the leader of Corporate Strategy and M&A from 2006 to 2012. Ms. Hooda was instrumental in the development of the firm’s long term strategic repositioning of its business model and launched its acquisition and partnership strategy in the asset management, pension and retirement sectors.
Prior to joining TIAA-CREF, Ms. Hooda was a Managing Director at Credit Suisse, where she provided leadership for global client relationship management within the investment banking and equities division. Earlier on Ms. Hooda was a consultant with McKinsey & Co and started her career as the first women management executive hired by American Express Bank in India.
Ms. Hooda is a life time member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Harvard Kennedy School of Public Leadership. Ms. Hooda serves on the Advisory Board of the Demand Institute, which is jointly sponsored by The Conference Board and Nielsen, and chairs the Tri-State Nominating committee for Pratham USA. She previously served on the Asia-Pacific committee of Global Advisory Board of the University of Chicago Booth School of Business providing oversight for expansion into China and India, the Board of Trustees of Women’s World Banking where she served on the Finance, Nominating and Governance committees, and the Business Council of the Asia Society. In addition, Ms. Hooda has served as a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on Long-term Investing where she played a key role in setting the intellectual framework for forum-led discussions around long-term investing and establishing the required governance and policy.
Ms. Hooda is a Governance Fellow of the National Association of Corporate Directors and a member of Women Corporate Directors. She has been recognized by Agenda, a Financial Times publication for board members on their Diversity 100 list and the Associated Press named her on the Business Leaders’ List as India’s Hot New Export.
Ms. Hooda received a M.B.A from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.
