Corinne French, a UNT alumna and student services coordinator in UNT’s Division of Student Affairs, calls for more women to run for office. She compares women to caterpillars, who emerge from the cocoon and take flight to become butterflies — although the process moves inch by inch and the changes are messy and difficult. Corinne French is the student services
coordinator in UNT’s Division of Student Affairs,
where she organizes district involvement with the
Eagle Advantage Program, plans on-campus and
virtual transition programs for high school juniors
and seniors, and facilitates college transition
workshops in high schools. She is the advisor
for Her Campus UNT and serves on the national
board of Empowering Women as Leaders.
French, who has more than 10 years of publicschool board service, is currently in her second
term as board president of Valley View ISD.
She also serves on the executive board of the
North Texas Area Association of School Boards
(NTAASB) and as the Region 11 TASB Director
in Austin, where she uses her higher education
background to bring a balanced perspective to
public-school advocacy. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at
